Donald Trump Is Not Entitled to Our Sympathy

He is not a victim.

On Sunday evening, the president released a video on Twitter. “I learned a lot about Covid…And I get it, I understand it, and it’s a very interesting thing, and I’m going to be letting you know about it,” he said. With over 200,000 dead Americans, the question arises:

Why the rush?

From the second his diagnosis was revealed, the Beltway punditry called the masses to attention. “Support the president,” they bellowed. You see, this was not a time for politics or partisanship. Rather, this was a time to put aside our political vendettas and support our leader. Rally ‘round the flag, even.

What Donald Trump and other Washington creatures fail to realize is that we do not owe him our sympathy. He is not entitled to it. Sympathy must be earned, and he has done nothing to deserve it. Hard as he may try, President Trump is no victim.

Quickly, two things.

First, I harbor no ill will. I want him to lose the upcoming election, not die.
