Forget, for just one moment, the policies. Forget the tax cuts, which allowed billionaires to pay less taxes than the working class. Forget his attempt to overhaul healthcare, which would have resulted in 24 million people losing coverage and in premiums spiking. Forget his environmental deregulation of 99 climate protections, including rules concerning carbon dioxide emissions, wetlands protections, and mercury emissions from power plants.

Forget, for just one moment, the man. Forget the man who once bragged about sexually assaulting women. Forget the man who refused to condemn white supremacy. Forget the man who wished to execute journalists.

The tweets, the insults, the pettiness, the malice, the threats — forget it all.

Instead, let’s focus on the most recent conspiracy theory Trump and his allies are pushing. Even for Trumpian standards, which are themselves quite low, this is beyond the pale.

On Tuesday, the President of the United States retweeted a new conspiracy involving Bin Laden.
